About Chalet Lydie ...
Chalet Lydie is one of a pair of 4 star semi-detached chalets close to the charming village of Manigod and just 1km from some great skiing at Croix Fry.
Set over three floors, it is ideal for families wishing to holiday together. Larger groups can also be accommodated by renting Chalet Lydie with the next door Chalet de Paul et Marie - together the two properties sleep up to 16 people comfortably.
Chalet Lydie has a large living area to accommodate everyone, and there's also room for 16 people to eat together by putting the two tables together. Access between the chalets is via the balcony off the main area - convenient for groups but if you only want to book one of the chalets, the access can be locked off and your privacy guaranteed.
The views from this south-facing chalet are incredible - from your terrace you can admire the stunning Aravis valley, framed by Etale, Sulens and Mont Charvin.
Note : during winter season please make sure to have snow tires and chains for your vehicles, since the access to the chalet is rather steep.
The property ...
Despite its traditional appearance from outside, Chalet Lydie's stunning contemporary interior is designed to make the most of the mountain views and light.
Bleached woods and neutral tones perfectly complement faux fur and wool textiles and splashes of colour. The property is set over two floors, with access to the basement where you can store ski equipment or bikes.
The spacious open-plan living area is on the ground floor, with a well-equipped kitchen and dining table for eight people. A large corner sofa and pouffes provide the perfect place to watch television or gather around the log burner, and sliding double doors open on to the balcony, which overlooks the valley.
There's a double bedroom on this floor, as well as a toilet and a bathroom. There are three more bedrooms upstairs, all of which have double or ziplink beds which can be made into twins. The two bedrooms at the front of the property open on to a balcony - the perfect place for your first morning coffee! There is also a second bathroom and wc on this floor.
About the area ...
Skiers and boarders will love Chalet Lydie, just a few minutes’ drive from the lifts at Croix Fry.
If you’d rather not take the car out, the ski bus stops just 100m from your door. There’s an ESF ski school base at Croix Fry, where beginners can find their feet on the gentle nursery slopes. Those with more experience can ski from here or explore the 220km of pistes between La Clusaz and Le Grand Bornand, which are all covered by the Aravis ski pass. Competent skiers can even ski back to the chalet!
There are plenty of trails for cross-country skiers on the nearby Beauregard plateau, where you an also enjoy snow shoe trails, with views across to Mont Blanc. If there are non-skiers in your party, there are heated indoor and outdoor swimming pools at La Clusaz as well as an ice-skating rink and cinema.
You could also try dog-sledding, sleigh rides or the local specialty - paret sledging!
You’ll never be stuck for something to do in the Aravis valley in the summer, either. There’s no shortage of walks, from mountain trails to hiking on the Gliéres plateau, the scene of the Resistance’s campaign against the German army in World War II.
The ski lifts will take walkers or cyclists and their bikes up the mountains, so they can come down at their own pace, and adrenalin junkies can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, or white-water rafting within a few miles of Manigod. Via ferrata is another great family day out, with children as young as eight able to explore the mountains secured to a harness.
You’ll have plenty of experiences to share back at the chalet, perhaps over a beer and a barbecue on the terrace as the sun sets.
If you like the sound of a holiday at Chalet Lydie, check our availability calendar - it's always up to date, and if your dates are free, we can hold them for 24 hours while you make your plans. But don't wait any longer - Chalet Lydie is very popular with OVO Network guests!

The OVO Network Review
“Guests love the decor, layout, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and new bathrooms.”
Chalet Lydie is a 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom property for 8 with 100m2 of floor space over 3 floors.
Larger groups of up to 16 can hire this recently renovated semi-detached chalet with it's sister chalet, Chalet Paul at Marie. Combined the two 4 star properties have 8 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and 200m2 of floor space.
Both Chalet Lydie and Chalet Paul et Marie have Cool for kids status, meaning they have lots of extra equipment, much appreciated by families holidaying with young children. Guests staying in both chalets love the decor, layout, well equipped kitchen, comfy beds, and new bathrooms.
The owners put a great deal of thought, effort, care and attention into providing all that their guests might require to enjoy a peaceful, calm holiday.
Nature lovers will be happy - the chalet overlooks a meadow below, and is surrounded by trees and mountains, with walks from the front door and spectacular Alpine views.
Winter sports enthusiasts will be happy - the property is less than 1km away from the ski fields at La Croix Fry, with great ski links to La Clusaz. In fact when snow conditions are favourable, guests with the will and skill to try, can, in theory snow shoe, sledge or ski back to the chalet.
Off piste and at their own risk of course!
Summer guests will be happy too - they can enjoy and appreciate the walking, cycling, wild life, flaura and fauna spotting and via ferrata opportunities.
The chalet is a drive way from the nearest supermarket so stock up either in Thones (or Merdassier in season), before heading up to the chalet. There are several restaurants close by, and the local baker offers fresh bread deliveries.
If you are planning a winter stay at Chalet Paul et Marie or Chalet Lydie, remember snow doesn't only fall on the pistes, it also falls on the roads and drives! Don't get caught out by arriving in a car which is not properly equipped for Alpine winter road conditions. The drive down to the chalet from the main road has been tarmaced to enable easier and more efficient snow clearing.
Please note Chalet Lydie does not welcomes pets.

From the owner
We love the peace and freedom of this chalet in the heart of nature
My grandmother Lydie inherited this chalet from her parents Louise and Constant.
After she retired, she loved spending every summer in the chalet, from June to mid-October, although it wasn't terribly comfortable. She came with her husband André, who was also born in Manigod.
My parents brought her groceries and supplies at weekends and I often spent my summer holidays here with my grandparents and my cousins.
When I married Paul, he also fell in love with the place. He enjoyed renovating the place with local craftsmen, bringing it up to a high level of comfort.
Along with our two daughters, Céline and Aurélie, we spent our holidays here with family and friends, and they have kept the tradition up.
We love the peace and freedom of this chalet in the heart of nature, surrounded by mountains. We hope you will also have some wonderful moments here.

Very nice location, magnificent view, quality chalet in terms of equipment and amenities. The premises were very clean and completely ready for our arrival. Congratulations to the owner for this beautiful renovation! If something had to be said to improve the offer: maybe leave a few more basic kitchen items on arrival since the shops are not nearby.

“Everything was perfect”
The days we spent at Chalet Lydie were very pleasant. We received an excellent welcome and a tasting hamper of wine, jam and terrine. And how could we not love the surrounding mountains, the cheese tasting, the Aravis area and the town of Annecy? Everything was perfect, and the weather was magnificent. Although it is a long way from our home, we would come back.
— Guy B. May 2019
“Don't hesitate to book!”
A super welcome and a magnificent chalet which is very well-equipped, especially if your are coming with young children. There's an extraordinary view of the mountains from the chalet, which is close to the pistes and walks from the door. Highly recommended!

“A perfect welcome, an unbeatable price!”
We had an excellent stay at Chalet Lydie. The welcome was faultless, from start to finish. The comfort level is excellent, from the bed linen to the kitchen equipment and the hifi. We loved the location a few minutes from the Croix Fry ski station and the other Aravis villages, the magnificent mountain view and the charming surroundings. We could find nothing to fault. We quickly felt at home, with everything we needed but in a totally different setting, far removed from our daily lives. The cherry on the cake is that I discovered this place on Booking.com but I booked it directly through OVO Network and saved money!

“A perfect holiday and an exceptional chalet”
Perfect - what else can I say? Everything was perfect, even exceptional! From the communication with the OVO team, the overall quality of the chalet, the bedlinen and the information provided ... everything had been well thought through to ensure that we had a great holiday. We were particularly pleased to see all the baby toys and accessories provided (bottle warmer, baby bath, changing table). We also appreciated the layout of the chalet, the ambiance of the bedrooms, the bathroom baskets and the well-equipped kitchen, as well as the information, the quality of the equipment and the parking. We were close to the pistes, the sledge run and the ski school as well as a really good restaurant, Les Sapins (great food, good service and parking). The view from the living room is magnificent. We will definitely be back.

“A superb holiday”
We had a superb holiday at Chalet Lydie, which was everything we hoped it would be. We really loved the view and the layout of the chalet, as well as the proximity to the Col de la Croix Fry. We would have liked a slightly more reliable internet connection. We have no hesitation in recommending this chalet.
— Xavier L. Feb 2018
This modern upgrade of an old chalet has been perfectly executed. The quality of the construction is exceptional. First class kitchen and bathrooms. The pictures are accurate but the view has to be seen to be appreciated. The nearest ski lifts are only one kilometer away. Outstanding in every regard.

“Super welcome and superb chalet”
We were very happy with our stay at Chalet Lydie and would like to thank the owners for letting us enjoy their property , which is perfect for a mountain holiday. The chalet is well located and has stunning views. It's perfectly comfortable and the chalet is beautifully arranged. The view is magnificent. We loved being so close to the slopes, La Clusaz and Manigod. The owners left us a hamper of food, which was really kind. Thanks again to Sophie for the welcome.

“A high quality chalet”
Chalet Lydie is very well equipped, functional and has many equipments to cook, board games to play with.... We really enjoyed the high level of comfort, the location, and we found the chalet an excellent value for money. I was worried that the photos would be nicer than reality, or that the view wouldn't be as nice as advertised. But everything was perfect and we were not disappointed. We loved the wonderful scenery in the area of Manigod. And above all: the calm, the privacy, the high quality of the equipments (comfy beds, heating, kitchen), the layout of the chalet, the view, the welcome gift and the welcome of the owners.
— Sandrine C. Oct 2017
“A wonderful time”
It was our second stay at chalet Lydie, and we have had the most wonderful time! We loved the chalet and we enjoyed drinking some wine on the balcony.
The views were so beautiful. We have walked and cycled a lot. And we'll dream of it when we get home.

We never tired of the view over Sulens, Tournette and Charvin. The chalet is really lovely and we had an excellent holiday in Manigod. We will be back.
— Benjamin B. Aug 2017
A very beautiful and confortable chalet in a very quiet place. The view is astonishing and the property is 2 minutes away from the slopes. Make sure you stock up on food in Thônes before heading to Manigod.
— Christophe J. Mar 2017
“A magnificent setting”
We come to this area every year. As always with OVO the decor was very well done; the chalet was impeccably clean; and the service was the best. The area, the skiing and the local produce are fantastic. We could perhaps have done with a garage and TV in the bedrooms, but apart from that we had no problems.
— Franck P. Jan 2017
“Thanks again and see you soon!”
It's always a pleasure to spend time with the family at Chalet Lydie. We never tire of the peace, the view and the beauty of the Manigod valley, which is quiet yet close to shops and restaurants. We must mention the new service offering croissants delivered in the mornings - excellent!
— David B. Aug 2016
“Welcoming and tastefully decorated”
A really lovely week in your magnificent chalet, which is welcoming and tastefully decorated. We really felt at home there. The view is amazing and we were lucky enough to have great weather during the day and snow in the evening - it was idyllic. We enjoyed Nordic skiing, snow-shoeing and sledging below the chalet. We also appreciated the free delivery of fresh bread every morning! We enjoyed the Savoyard specialities that we bought in the village, or tried at Chez Fonfon (the restaurant at the bottom of the pistes in Manigod) and L'Etale (run by Seb and Jean Luc in La Clusaz) - two great places. We also loved our visit to the goat farm on the Route des Confins at La Clusaz, where we tried the famous goat's cheese.
— Christine P. Mar 2016
Super memories and a lovely surprise when we arrived! A superb chalet with a really warm welcome. The view is magnificent and if you are looking for peace and quiet, you'll find it here. The snow was there and we were able to enjoy Alpine skiing, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing. Thank you for the comfort and the wonderful equipment.

“Far away from the crowd...”
We left Chalet Lydie like we would leave an old friend - with a little sadness in our heart. We felt like three castaways far from the commotion, noise and nuisance and I think that is a luxury. We wish you all the best holidays in the world in this chalet, with those you love.
— Miba I. Aug 2015
“We'll be back with great pleasure!”
This chalet is wonderfully located in Manigod, away from the road and facing Mt Charvin & Sulens. The view is totally relaxing! Chalet Lydie is also very comfortable, well designed and organised. We spent a very enjoyable stay.
— David B. Aug 2015
As great hiking enthusiasts, we found plenty to do throughout our stay, discovering unspoilt mountain landscapes and breathtaking countryside. There are hiking trails which pass the door of the chalet, and mountain-biking is just as accessible. It’s impossible to get bored !
— Grégory B. Jul 2015
“A beautiful spacious chalet”
In the heart of the mountains, a beautiful spacious chalet which has retained the soul of the mountains.
Plenty of hiking and snowshoe trails close to great ski stations : Croix Fry/Merdassier, La Clusaz, Le Grand Bornand … and the ski bus stops just a couple of steps from the chalet !
The Beauregard plateau is a great place for snow sports, with a great atmosphere guaranteed.
— Hélène B. Mar 2015
“Toboggan in front of the chalet!”
Gliding down the hill on the paret with the yeti – young and old were enchanted !
You can even toboggan right in front of the chalet ! A blissful holiday combining peace and conviviality in a welcoming resort with plenty of unusual activities and entertainment.
